From Our Family's Farms in Brazil

Mathilde's is part of our Family Line, named for the people who shaped our coffee story. Like the rest of that line, it comes from our own family's farms in Brazil's Sul de Minas region — land Augusto Carneiro's family has cultivated since 1890. Roasting this dark leaves nowhere to hide: it takes dense, properly ripened beans to keep their sweetness all the way through, which is exactly why we take this roast from farms we know.

You sent the wrong coffee

As you stated, I did indeed order Mathilde’s French Roast coffee like I always do. I was very disappointed that I received Teodoro’s Italian Roast instead (I can send you pictures if you like). I don’t much care for medium roast coffee. Anyway, I’ve given the 10 bags of Teodoro’s to one of our kids and am using the few bags of Mathilde’s French Roast that I have left. I’m debating whether I should order any more coffee from you. We’ll see.

I really liked these bean. It has a full body, is rich and low aci. I really enjoyed it in the French press. Some of the better dark beans I’ve had!

Perfect roast - ideal for automatic espresso machines

Before we discovered Nossa Familias coffee, our automatic espresso machine was getting its grinder gummed up by the oily coffee beans we were using.

The non-oily Mathilda beans cured our problems and the coffee is smoother while retaining the roastiness that we love. Its delicious!

Ordered for a Christmas gift for us! We have drank this in the past an enjoyed every bit of it. We ordered 2 other bags for our daughter and son-in-law and those are now in the mail. We are looking forward in hearing how they like the coffee too. We first enjoyed your coffee years ago on a couple of Cycle Oregon events and have been hooked ever since.

Our favorite coffee

Our household prefers darker roasted coffees. Mathilde's is our favorite. Wonderful flavor and very smooth. Zero "bite". Look forward to it every morning.

Lovely roasty coffee

Does very well in my moka pot for my daily coffee. I always look forward to it. Also essential: the coffee is fairly traded. If I am going to drink coffee it’s important to me that it not be exploitative.

Great as Espresso

I ordered several varieties from Nossa, and have so far found this to be my favorite. I’m a bigger fan of dark roasts, and this fit the bill. It has been consistent to brew with and took very little effort to dial in a shot. I used to use Lavazza, and while I still like it, these beans are definitely better. They are also much more fresh. I’ve been getting good crema out of them. It’s one of the few coffees that I actually feel like I can kind of taste the flavor profile that they describe on the bag.

Nossa Familia Coffee founder Augusto Carneiro's great-grandfather and his three brothers planted the family's first coffee crop in 1890. Nestled beside an ancient volcano in the Brazilian highlands, the farm was a half-day by horseback to the local train station and eight hours on the train to reach São Paulo!
