Rich, chocolatey, and a little bit dressed up. Camila's Organic is a medium-dark roast with notes of dark chocolate, plum, and baker's spice — a full, rounded body that makes it our go-to organic espresso, and just as good as a strong cup of drip.

Grown by the Chirinos Cooperative in Cajamarca, Peru

Camila's comes from Chirinos, a cooperative in the San Ignacio province of Peru's Cajamarca region. Chirinos was founded in 1968 by 36 producers who wanted to reach the international specialty market; today it has 867 members and a reputation for forward-thinking production. The coffee grows between 1,200 and 2,200 meters — Typica, Bourbon, Caturra, Pache and Catimor — hand-picked during the August–November harvest and washed-processed.

Chirinos holds both Fair Trade and Organic certification. Members use only organic fertilizers made from composting, worm bins and guano, control pests naturally rather than with chemicals, and rely on an agronomist assigned to each producer group for organic and quality support. Their gaicashi composting system, developed by Colombian agronomist Edgar Blandon, is some of the best thinking in compost management anywhere. We source through Sustainable Harvest, the Portland-based B Corp certified importer we've worked with for years.

Camila's is roasted by a Certified B Corporation, which commits us to 100% renewable energy at every Nossa Familia facility, Loring roasters that cut roasting energy and emissions by up to 80%, zero-waste programs across our roastery and cafés, and donating at least 1% of annual gross profits to nonprofits.

Our family has been growing coffee since 1890. Camila's is the darker, richer end of that tradition.

After discovering Nossa when I lived in Portland, it was a must to begin ordering my all-time favorite coffee beans....Camilla's Organic! My order comes like clock-work each month just as I'm about out. I've even taken my fav grind on trips, but after the last search and seize at airport lol, I carry only beans! Nossa gets this coffee just perfect. The tasting notes are as described. Surprised me as I’m less attracted to darker roasts. Best brewed for me using a chemex and a metal cone at 205°
drinking 2lbs q4 weeks. As a company, Nossa Familia is admirable in their practices. My favorite.

Best coffee roast ever!

Best coffee roast ever, and it's organic which is a huge perk. The flavor is amazing. We use it in our espresso machine every day and cannot seem to expand to other roasts because nothing else measures up. Thanks for the amazing coffee!

The coffee tastes okay, however, I requested medium grind for my drip coffee maker. What I received appears to be finely ground coffee that is clogging the holes In my filter and causing the filter cup to overflow at times.

To be honest….I ordered espresso coffee GROUND….and was sent whole beans. So I am wanting to ship ithe two packages back and get the correct coffee!

This is my favorite coffee on the planet. There is some thing about the excitement of waking up to the smell of this coffee in the morning and the feeling I have when I add my heavy cream with a slight amount of vanilla and maple syrup. I don’t need to do much this coffee because it is got the most incredible aroma and the feeling that it gives me is so uplifting, and it truly makes me happy to drink a cup. This is the coffee that I gift anyone that comes to town. Thank you for the care you have for each bean.

Nossa Familia - my preferred coffee subscription roaster!

I have been a subscriber with Nossa Familia for well over 18 months. What I have come to count on is quality, freshness (roasting usually in the previous week or so) and taste. While my go to is Augusta's Organic Breakfast Medium Roast, recently tried Camila's Organic. Both are delicious creating beautiful cups of coffee but I prefer the nuanced flavor of Augusta's. Having lived in Brazil I have experienced how dedicated they are to the quality of their coffee and always hoped to be able to experience the same when I got back to the US...well, I have. Please do yourself a favor and try. While their coffee is outstanding, their customer service is as well and I always get my subscription on time and in excellent shape.

Would like to love it

Would like to love it, but unfortunately, I just can't pull the sweetness out of these beans. Wish NF(and others) would post recipes for their beans on their bags. This is an espresso, so a simple recipe to start with would help. Not fun running through1/2 a bag just to figure out the extraction. I tried 1:2 & 1:1/2 ratios, 95º w/various times, 25 (sour)-40 (ok) secs. Good but not my fav.

The group has weathered decades of change and uncertainty, a testament to both the quality of their coffee and their ability to adapt. Coffee is hand-picked by co-op members and their families between 1,200 and 2,200 meters. Each producer group relies on an experienced agronomist for technical support in organic production and quality control, and members use strictly organic compost they make themselves using a unique system called "gaicashi."
