Farmers remove the skin of the coffee cherry fruit, leaving the pectin layer intact. Then beans dry on patios or drying beds. The term "pulped natural" is more commonly used for Brazilian coffee.
Coffee aficionados, meet your new daily ritual. Ernesto's House Roast strikes a perfect balance of bold flavor and natural sweetness — a medium roast with a nutty, smooth character and a honey finish that makes it as inviting on first sip as it is on the last. Wonderful as espresso, drip, or iced coffee.
Grown by Family, Shared with Yours
Ernesto's is part of our Family Line, and true to that name, every bean comes from our family's own farms in Brazil's Sul de Minas region — land that Augusto Carneiro's family has cultivated since 1890. Growing at over 1,100m elevation using a Pulped-Natural process, these beans develop their characteristic sweetness and smooth body naturally, without additives or shortcuts.
Because we source directly from our own farms and a small circle of trusted partner growers, we can guarantee fair conditions at origin and consistent quality in your cup. That's what direct trade means to us — not a certification, but a commitment that's been in the family for over a century.

Our Family's Farms
Nossa Familia Coffee founder Augusto Carneiro's great-grandfather and his three brothers planted the family's first coffee crop in 1890. Nestled beside an ancient volcano in the Brazilian highlands, the farm was a half-day by horseback to the local train station and eight hours on the train to reach São Paulo!
We have searched a long time for Ernesto’s blend. Love this coffee. Grind the beans fresh daily by hand and the flavor and aroma just makes breakfast special.

Our house has an ongoing debate over a dark vs medium roast. Ernesto’s makes everyone happy! Smooth and delicious.
