What Makes This Nicaragua Coffee Special?

This coffee comes from Finca San Jose de las Nubes, a farm owned and operated by our longtime coffee partner, Bayardo Reyes.

Located nearly 1,200 meters above sea level near Matagalpa, Nicaragua, the farm sits within a unique cloud forest ecosystem where cool temperatures, persistent fog, and rich soils create ideal conditions for growing high-quality coffee.

The farm's name translates to "Farm of the Clouds," a fitting description for a place where mist often drifts through the trees and across the hillsides.

Under Bayardo's careful stewardship, the quality of the coffee has continued to improve year after year, producing some of the most expressive coffees we source.

What Is Washed Coffee?

One of the reasons this coffee stands out is its processing method.

In the washed coffee process, the outer fruit of the coffee cherry is removed before the beans are fermented, washed, and dried.

This method helps highlight the coffee's natural characteristics, creating a cleaner cup with brighter acidity and greater clarity of flavor.
