FESTA HOLIDAY BLEND IS BACK AND IT'S BETTER THAN EVER!

Festa, meaning celebration or feast in Portuguese, is a way of life in our native Brazil—and the holidays are no exception. Since 2016, Festa Holiday Blend has been a mainstay of our holiday offering here at Nossa Familia. It represents the very best coffee we have to offer and it gives back to the hardworking farming communities who produce it.

We are excited to share that our 2022 blend is better than ever! Festa features beans from our family farms in Brazil as well as our partner producers at Finca San Jose de las Nubes in Nicaragua, and from the Young Entrepreneurs of San Miguel Escobar in Guatemala. It’s a dark roast with bright citrus acidity and notes of brown sugar, red fruit, cherry, cocoa, almond and warm spices. We've roasted this bold blend to pair perfectly with Grandma’s fruit cake or Dad’s roast turkey. It’s a crowd-pleasing, festive coffee for any celebratory occasion.

50¢ of every bag of Festa purchased this holiday season provides opportunities for the next generation of coffee farmers in Guatemala through the De la Gente Young Entrepreneur Fund.

For the fourth year in a row, Nossa Familia has chosen to partner with De la Gente as our Festa donation recipient. De La Gente is a non-profit organization working with small scale coffee farmers and cooperatives in Guatemala to create economic opportunities that improve the quality of life for their families and communities. Through the De la Gente Young Entrepreneur Fund proceeds from our Festa Holiday Blend help to foster the professional development of a motivated group of young adults, each of whom are the children of coffee-growers in Guatemala.

Through the administration of the Young Entrepreneur Fund, De La Gente is supporting the professional development of these young entrepreneurs with access to interest-free microloans, equipment, education and technical training.

The 10 members of the Young Entrepreneurs of San Miguel Escobar, are the rising generation from several coffee cooperatives in San Miguel Escobar near Antigua. This determined group of young adults see personal development in the coffee trade as a means to achieve their professional goals both in and beyond the coffee industry to support themselves and their families. Many aspire to follow their family’s footsteps, specializing in coffee production, while some seek to leverage their coffee experience to gain access to education and professions beyond the coffee trade in engineering, medicine, and law. Through the administration of the Young Entrepreneur Fund, De La Gente is supporting the professional development of these young entrepreneurs with access to interest-free microloans, equipment, education and technical training.

HOW THE FUND HAS HELPED

Since the start of our partnership with De La Gente, Festa Holiday Blend has raised over $8,600 to support the future of coffee farming in Guatemala.

Here is a glimpse at the opportunities being cultivated among the Young Entrepreneurs:

Karen is pursuing her nursing degree at the university level, but simultaneously advancing her coffee career. She was granted a loan of $1,500 to purchase a piece of land to cultivate coffee.
Marvin similarly seeks to expand his production capacity and was approved for a $1,900 loan to purchase a piece of land on which he will cultivate coffee.
Julia, who owns her own store in downtown Ciudad Vieja, applied for and was granted a $1,300 loan to expand her business.
Guillermo and Eduardo both received loans for $1,050 to cover harvest expenses and coffee plantation maintenance.
