We are currently hiring for:

Café Manager, New Café on SE Division in Portland

The role: Nossa Familia Coffee is seeking a rockstar Café Manager for a brand-new café opening at the Seven Corners Collaborative on Southeast Division Street in Portland, Oregon.

Classification: Hourly, non-exempt
Anticipated Hours: 40/week
Wage: $15-16 + tips
Benefits: Retirement, PTO, health care, supplemental/dental pre-tax, paid holidays, paid parental leave, paid volunteer hours, free coffee

Functions: 

  • Produce the best coffee drinks in town. Wow the customer with perfectly-extracted espresso, perfectly-textured milk, and beautiful latte art.
  • Be excitable and personable when interacting with our customers. We only want the friendliest baristas in town.
  • Motivate baristas to be great at their jobs, which means coaching on accountability, direction, excellent customer service and great communication.
  • Be knowledgeable (or teachable) about specialty coffee and excited to educate our customers on flavor and origin.
  • Diligent in accurately processing transactions, handling cash, and multi-tasking.
  • Be able to work towards company and department metrics with measurable outcomes.
  • Be held accountable for customer reviews via Yelp, Square, Facebook, Google, TripAdvisor, etc. Generate only 4 and 5 star reviews.
  • Willing to work up to 12 hours per day during the opening of the cafe (typical days will be in the 4-8 hour range.)
  • Willing to work any day of the week.
  • Able to lift 50lbs infrequently.
  • Able to remain standing and stationary for extended periods of time.
  • A knack for social media and contributing to our brand image.

Applicant expectations: 

  • Passion for specialty coffee and Nossa Familia's business and model. 
  • Barista experience in a specialty coffee shop highly preferred.
  • Hire amazing baristas and be able to train them to Nossa Familia's standards.
  • Grow the business. Motivated to improve the cafe every day. More customers, cleaner environment, happier customers, more outreach, new marketing ideas, etc., etc. 
  • Operate profitably. Understand the basics of managing COGS, labor, and expenses, and how to correct issues--always striving for improvement.
  • Pride in quality of product, quality of service, and cleanliness of environment--unwavering in this regard.
  • Highly professional and organized. 
  • Able to follow directions and comfortable with accountability.

Barista - Downtown Los Angeles (Part-Time)

Classification: Hourly, non-exempt
Anticipated Hours: 15 - 25+/week
Wage: $11.50-12.50, + tips (depending on experience)

Nossa Familia Coffee is looking for a motivated, self-sufficient team player who is passionate about coffee, community, and a positive work environment. Our Espresso Bar at The CalEdison in Downtown Los Angeles is growing fast and we are looking to provide a unique opportunity for someone who has great people skills and is excited to learn more about family-direct coffee!

As a Barista, your job will include:

- Producing the best coffee drinks in town!
- Wow-ing the customer with perfectly-extracted espresso, perfectly-textured milk, and beautiful latte art.
- Being excitable and personable when interacting with our customers. We ONLY want the friendliest baristas in town!
- Being knowledgeable (or teachable), and excited to educate our customers.
- Being diligent in accurately processing transactions.
- Willingness to work up to 9 hours per day (typical days will be in the 4-8 hour range).
- Ability to lift 50lbs (infrequently).
- Ability to remain standing and stationary for extended periods of time.
- Other duties as directed by supervisor/manager.
