Our special day lot from Ayele Tulu of the Demeka Becha Washing Station in the Sidama Region, is an outstanding example of the washed processed Ethiopian flavor profile. Sweet and tea like with peach and pronounced floral notes, this light roast coffee is sure to be a pleasing experience.
Ethiopia, the birthplace of arabica coffee, features cultivars, varieties, and flavors not seen in much of the rest of the world. We're able to share this special day lot with you care of our friends at Catalyst Trade, a majority Ethiopian-owned, woman-led, coffee importing company working to revolutionize the way coffee is traded.
What's so special about a day lot? Sourced and overseen by Catalyst Coffee at the origin, our special day lot is the product of an initiative by Catalyst aimed at achieving optimal flavor and quality control. Rather than grouping beans with others from previous harvest days and batch fermenting, with a day lot, parchment coffee is isolated in a fermentation tank from a single harvest day and then tracked all the way down to the green sacks from dry milling.

This is my favorite coffee. What a treat!

I have enjoyed several other Nossa Familia coffees, but this is the first time I tried the Sidama Demeka Becha Ethiopia and it was lovely. It had a bright, but not too intense, acidity, and delicate stone fruit flavors with floral and light tea notes. The coffee was fresh roasted - something that is extremely important to me. When I received it, the coffee had been roasted only 2 days prior. I use the Hario V60 ceramic coffee dripper and Hario filters for my pour-over method of brewing, and the Hario manual ceramic burr grinder. Using this method the coffee presented with great flavor and texture, and no bitterness. It was a morning favorite until it was gone!
This particular one is a bit to different for my personal taste but my daughter loves it !
LOVED IT! Smooth, sweet, and totally balanced.
